When we talk about diet, we are NOT referring to the prohibition or discarding of food. And with it caloric limitations and so on. We refer to a series of nutritional tips to improve the food diet that we carry and thus enhance it.
Optimal diet: To take note
What should we eat for breakfast?
It all starts with a key question: What to have for breakfast? To start our surfing session we need energy and a good breakfast. This does not mean eating a hearty breakfast, but a smart one. The glycogen reserve in the muscles is diminished when we wake up.
Recommendation: Choose foods that are easy to digest and high in carbohydrates: Fruit smoothies, a bowl of oatmeal or cereal, toast with peanut butter or jelly, among other options.
Coffee is known for its ability to stimulate the nervous system, reduce fatigue and improve attention and memory. In the morning, a cup is essential to activate the body. If you can tolerate it without any problem, a cup is perfect.
How should a surfer have lunch?
After a few hours of surfing it is important to recharge your batteries. Hydration is important throughout the day. The recommended lunch should be based on fiber and protein.
Recommendation: Prioritize foods rich in fiber, such as vegetables, fruits and grains. In turn, proteins such as nuts, legumes, dairy products, red or white meats.
Avoid foods rich in fats or sugars, as these do not meet the energy demands of our body. In fact, their excessive consumption is counterproductive.
Snacks between sessions:
It is important if we are going to be surfing all day, to carry some small snacks or snacks. A simple idea is chocolate milk. This drink is made up of 85% water, is low in fat and helps recover muscle tissue. In turn, it is a source of carbohydrates and protein.
Recommendation: Avoid alcoholic beverages. Opt for sandwiches, vegetables with hummus, canned tuna, fruit salads or a portion of pasta and vegetables.
After surf dinner
After a day full of surfing, it is necessary to eat again to recover the energy spent. At the same time, a good rest is important. Dinner should consist of a good source of protein, carbohydrates and vegetables.
Recommendation: Among the proteins are white and red meats, legumes, tempeh, tofu. Carbohydrates can be white or brown rice, pasta or quinoa.
